Sometimes windows might not read your profile correctly and as a result brings an "failed login" , before undergoing this process, make sure you enter the correct log-in password.
- Log in to save mode
- Click on the "start" button and type regedit in the search box and press enter.
- In Registry Editor, locate and click registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/ProfileList
- In the navigation pane, locate folder that begins with S-1-5 (SID - key) followed by long number (they are sometimes two different SID key with long numbers)
- Click each SID key and locate ProfileImagePath and double click to make sure its the correct user account you are trying to fixed.
- Rename the SID key with long numbers, that didnt have an extension (S-1-5-21-*********-*******-******-1000) to S-1-5-21-*********-*******-******-1000.bak
- Rename the SID key with long numbers that has an extension (S-1-5-21-*********-*******-******-1000.bak) to S-1-5-21-*********-*******-******-1000
- Click the folder without extionsion i.e .bak and double click the RefCount and make sure the value data is zero (0), base is Hexadecimal and click ok.
- Click the folder without the extension .bak and double click on state, type 0 in the value data and make sure the Base is in Hexadecimal and click ok.
- Close the Registry Editor
- Restart the computer and log in again with your account.
